Our relationships go beyond delivering technology or completing a project. We take the time to understand each client’s business, challenges, priorities, and long-term goals.
Innovating a Traditional Travel Agency
In this case study, we highlight how a well-established traditional travel agency gradually transformed the way it operates through practical technology adoption, stronger digital processes, and consistent ongoing support.
During our first meeting, we discovered an agency with a strong reputation and an established client base, but with several challenges behind the scenes. There was no active website, access to some social media accounts remained with former employees, vouchers were created manually, brand consistency was lacking, and there was no dedicated team to respond confidently to technology-related questions from airlines, corporate clients, suppliers, or business partners.
Now, as we enter our fifth year of working together, the transformation is clear.
A complete shift to an online-only business model was never the requirement. Instead, our focus was to introduce meaningful improvements while respecting the agency’s traditional strengths and established way of working. Today, the agency benefits from a noticeable online presence, an online booking facility connected through its GDS, a professional social media presence, stronger brand consistency, improved digital content, and dependable technology support whenever required.
Over time, this relationship has grown far beyond a typical third-party engagement. We consider their business as our own, and their success as our success. We contribute whatever is required to help them grow, and equally, they have never treated us simply as an external technology provider. We have become part of their journey. The journey continues.
There are thousands of travel agencies across the region facing similar challenges today. They may have strong reputations, loyal customers, and years of experience, but still lack the technology, digital presence, processes, or ongoing support needed for the next stage of growth. Digital Presence and Loyalty for a Hotel Group
We entered this hotel group through a successful engagement on a related travel technology project. At the time, the group operated two hotels, and this became our first hospitality technology assignment.
The initial scope was to develop fast-loading, SEO-friendly and mobile-responsive websites for both hotels with integrations, following a consistent structure while maintaining the individual identity of each property. The websites were designed to showcase the complete range of hotel services, include services booking request options, integrate with the hotel booking engine, and provide the group with a custom content management system for ongoing updates. This formed Phase 1 of the project.
Phase 2 focused on introducing a hotel loyalty programme supported by dedicated mobile applications, creating a stronger direct relationship between the hotels and their guests while enabling a more personalised digital experience. For us, this was more than simply another website development assignment. It was our first hospitality project, and we approached it with a clear ambition: to create something strong enough to become a visible reference project and make people ask, “Who developed this?”
The overall scope was extensive, and we involved a trusted development partner where additional resources were required. However, the project direction remained driven by SG Technology Consultants, covering project management, UI/UX direction, SEO structure, CMS planning and management, website development coordination, mobile app development, and overall delivery.
The project went live as planned and has since become an important reference in our portfolio, representing two significant hotel projects and demonstrating our ability to manage complex hospitality technology requirements from concept to launch.
Today, we support hospitality businesses looking for solutions such as hotel websites, mobile apps, loyalty programmes, hotel management systems, booking engines, payment gateway flows, restaurant and spa bookings, gym reservations, family membership programmes, and related digital services. For hotels looking to strengthen their digital presence, introduce a loyalty programme, or build an integrated hospitality technology ecosystem, connect with SG Technology Consultants.
Built on Trust, Strengthened by Clients
Sometimes, the strongest introduction does not come through a formal proposal, a presentation, or a sales pitch. It comes through one honest sentence from someone who already knows how you work.
This particular opportunity began at the Arabian Travel Market. Our founder and key consultant was speaking with a few industry friends near a GDS stand, while the General Manager of one of our existing travel agency clients was nearby in conversation with another visitor. He was discussing a new and highly specialised project and asked whether the GM knew someone trustworthy who could guide them on the technology side. The GM called our founder over, briefly mentioned the work we had been doing for his company, and said: “I don’t know whether he knows your business, but one thing I can tell you is that he will never mislead you.”
That was the introduction. No lengthy presentation. No exaggerated claims. Just trust earned through an existing client relationship. The conversation led to a contract and project, and to a long-term relationship that continues today. What began in an unfamiliar industry gradually expanded into a much broader engagement, extending far beyond the original scope. One genuine sentence from a trusted client is worth more than a hundred sales presentations.
Airline Projects? Not Too Heavy for Us.
SG Technology Consultants was already known as a travel technology-focused company, but in our early years, we never imagined that an airline project would become part of our journey.
Then came a surprise.Shortly after the COVID period, we were invited to participate in an airline RFP for a complete website redevelopment project, including booking engine integration and multiple API connections. Although our founder already had more than a decade of experience working with GDS companies and travel agencies, we had no direct airline project experience at the time.
Our founder personally walked into the discussion, and what followed was simple: confidence, clear commitments, direct answers to every question, and one firm promise: “Whatever it takes, we will deliver on 31 July 2022.” That confidence, backed by a clear understanding of travel technology and project delivery, was enough to win the project.
Given the scale of the assignment, a development partner was also brought on board. The website was delivered as promised, under the direct project management of SG Technology Consultants. Our involvement also covered UI/UX direction, graphics, marketing management and SEO structure, content management, integrations, and overall project coordination.
But the journey did not stop there. Over time, SG became involved in much more, including year-round airline website marketing management, content management, airline-specific SEO, custom development contracts, API integrations, merchandise shopping cart projects, and several other digital initiatives.
Today, our connection with this airline is so close that whenever one of its aircraft passes through the landing path over Dubai, we look at it with a sense of pride. Our entry into the airline domain was unexpected. Today, however, we are fully prepared to take on similar projects and go far beyond them.
For airlines looking for a website and technology partner that understands the travel industry, booking engines, complex API integrations, digital content, SEO, and Marketing Management related booking flows, SG Technology Consultants could be the partner you are looking for. We do’nt have any airline technology or products. What we do have is the capability to create powerful websites, online portals, and mobile apps, integrated with almost anything that can connect through an API.
And most importantly, our fees are based on the effort and our expertise required, not on what you fly.
New DMC, Low Budget and Big Dreams
We were approached by a newly established DMC with a clear challenge: most DMC technology solutions available in the market required a significant upfront investment, and they were looking for a more cost-effective way to start. Our first suggestion was to consider a WordPress-based solution. However, once we explored the actual business requirements, it became clear that the project was far from what we thought.
The DMC needed custom booking flows, advance payment collection, full payment options, dynamic pricing based on passenger types and travel dates, and multilingual support including Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and French, along with several other business-specific requirements.
We therefore proposed a CMS-based model with custom development and tailored booking flows, creating a more affordable solution without compromising the core requirements of the business. The client is happy with the outcome, and the project went live within weeks.
For startups and SME-sized DMCs looking for a budget-friendly digital platform with customised functionality, this is a model that can be adapted and replicated based on business requirements. Big dreams do not always need a big starting budget. Sometimes, the right technology model makes the difference. Reach out to SG Technology Consultants for more information.
